A manuscript is not simply an older copy of a book. It is an object made by a particular person, in a particular place, with decisions about script, spacing, and ornament that carry meaning of their own. Most reproductions flatten all of that into a scan.
This series presents manuscript material with its plates intact and its context supplied: what the hand is, where it belongs in the tradition, what a reader who has never studied palaeography should notice on the page.
